The White Aseel rooster is now quite common in Pakistan. However, if we talk about around 10 years ago, the White Aseel was owned by very few people. In Pakistan, there were only about 10 to 12 people who had this color variant, and they considered it extremely rare. They were reluctant to give it to others because the White Aseel was regarded as a rare breed. But now, the White Aseel has become much more common not only in Pakistan and India but also in other Asian countries because people have significantly increased its breeding and are using it for business purposes.
How are White Aseel chickens made?
Some people often wonder how white Aseel chickens are created. They want to know which colors need to be crossed to produce a white Aseel. However, pure colors like white Aseel, black Aseel (commonly known as Mushka Aseel), red Aseel (known as Lakha Aseel), yellow-black Aseel (called Java Aseel), and yellow Aseel (referred to as Tanboori Aseel) are all original and have always existed. These colors were not created by human effort or crossbreeding.
Therefore, those who claim that these colors were developed through the hard work and breeding of previous enthusiasts are entirely mistaken. Any other colors aside from these are the result of crossbreeding with different colors, as it is evident that they display shades of two or three different colors.
History:
The history of the White Aseel is very ancient. If we try to fix a specific date in its history, I believe that wouldn’t be accurate because the White Aseel is one of the pure colors, and pure colors belong to a very old breed. However, if an estimate is to be made, anyone can make one. According to our research, the White Aseel started appearing around the 1650s. I am specifically talking about the Aseel breed here. As for the white color itself, it has been around since before the 900s.
Fighting Skills:
The White Aseel is also very good in fights, just like other Aseels. There’s no doubt that the White Aseel has been seen in many arenas and has won many times. This is because the White Aseel possesses all the qualities found in a normal Aseel. Other normal Aseels fight very well because their blood carries anger, bravery, and endurance. For the same reason, these traits are also present in the White Aseel’s blood. However, despite its endurance and good fighting abilities, 80% of people in Pakistan and India keep this breed not for fighting but for passion and beauty. This is because the White Aseel is very beautiful to look at.
Which breeds have White Aseel chickens?
The White Aseel is not commonly found in every breed. Breeds that are famous for a specific color do not typically include the White Aseel. However, in breeds known for their bravery and quality, the White Aseel is present. For example, the Amroha Aseel is famous for its red color, the Merathi Aseel is known for its yellowish-brown (jawa) color, and the Lasani breed is recognized for its black color. Similarly, the white color is referred to as “Heera” (diamond). Thus, the White Aseel is also called “Heera Aseel.” The White Aseel is most commonly found in Mianwali breeds.
Temperature:
The White Aseel, when raised from a young age in a particular temperature, becomes accustomed to that temperature even as it grows older. There isn’t any specific temperature required for it because the White Aseel is not an imported breed that would require a specific climate for its comfort. This bird is native to Asian countries, so it easily adapts to any temperature it is raised in.
Size:
The size of the bird depends on its breed. The size of a white bird will correspond to the characteristics of its specific breed. For example, if a white bird is found in the Mianwali breed of Aseel, its size will be around 2.5 feet, and its weight will range from 2600 grams to 2900 grams. If it is purebred, its weight will be between 2400 grams and 2600 grams. Similarly, if a white bird is found in the Sindhi breed, its weight will be over 3 kilograms. The same applies to other breeds, where the size and characteristics of the white Aseel will be according to its breed.
Eggs production:
The egg production of a White Aseel hen depends on her age. If the hen is between 9 months to 2.5 years old, she will lay between 12 to 15 eggs. After this, she will sit on the eggs and enter the incubation phase to hatch chicks. If the hen is between 2.5 to 5.5 years old, she will lay between 8 to 11 eggs. If the hen is over 5 years old, her egg production will decrease to between 4 to 7 eggs. As the hen’s age increases, the number of eggs she lays will gradually decrease. Additionally, her diet also plays a role in egg production. If her diet is rich in vitamins and proteins, it will be easier for her to lay more eggs.
Feeding:
The feeding of a White Aseel depends on its situation. If the chicks are small, they should be given soft food, such as No. 4 feed or zero number feed. If the chicks have grown a bit older, then wheat and millet are also good for them. If you have kept them in an open area, then you can feed them anything you like without any issues, because the White Aseel is an Asian bird and doesn’t have many specific needs. You can ensure good growth for them even with regular feed.
Breeding:
When discussing the breeding of White Aseel chickens, it is essential to remember that the white color must be completely pure. When breeding for pure color, both the male and female should be pure to ensure that the offspring also display the pure color. If you use a pure white rooster whose parents were both white, and pair it with a hen that also comes from white parents, there is a 90% chance that the offspring will be white.
However, if you use a white male whose mother is white but father is of another color, he may not produce all white chicks in the future. It is possible that 2 or 3 chicks might be white, but not all will be; some might turn out red, black, or another color. Therefore, when selecting a white pair for breeding, it is crucial to know the color of both their parents. Otherwise, your efforts might go to waste.
